Rural Roots, National Reach: My eCommerce Transformation

My entrepreneurial journey began in 2016 in Nawada, a small village in Bihar. Driven by curiosity, I decided to try my hand at eCommerce by listing electrical products like torches, switches, and emergency lamps. To my delight, within just a few days, I received my very first order. That moment was a turning point—it gave me my first real taste of online selling and ignited my passion for entrepreneurship.

What started as a simple interest in getting new orders quickly became a practical lesson in delivering products from a remote village. Managing those early orders taught me the basics of supply chain and fulfilment. Each challenge I faced built my confidence and made me believe that I could truly build something of my own.

Launching Aykitzil Inc. and Embracing Growth

In 2022, I took a leap forward and formally launched Aykitzil Inc., specializing in electrical and electronic products. As orders started to trickle in, I realized that succeeding in eCommerce would require continuous learning. Handling more orders made it clear that I needed guidance on understanding demand, improving packaging, and building customer trust to take my business to the next level.

The Turning Point: My Walmart Vriddhi Experience

In 2023, I discovered the Walmart Vriddhi program through the Flipkart website. The program’s digital tools, market access, and personalized mentoring immediately caught my attention, so I decided to register. This decision changed the way I approached my business. Until then, I was driven more by enthusiasm than by understanding. The program’s modules and mentorship transformed my outlook—I began to see how cataloging, logistics, branding, and service all work together to create momentum. Using the learning from each program module, I improved different parts of my business—from packaging and delivery to overall communication. As a result, demand for our products surged across India, even reaching as far as Lakshadweep.

Focusing on Customer Experience and Exploring New Markets

The mentorship sessions underscored the importance of customer experience as a vital pillar of eCommerce. I learned how to evaluate customer reviews for market analysis and received valuable guidance on exports, which sparked my interest in exploring international markets through the Walmart Marketplace. Soon, I started seeing repeat customers and positive reviews. The impact was clear in the numbers: my revenue grew from ₹7-8 lakh in 2022 to ₹75 lakh in 2023, and crossed ₹2 crore by 2024.

Accelerating Growth with Flipkart Fulfilment Services

A key driver of this growth was adopting Fulfilment by Flipkart (FBS), a solution I learned about through Walmart Vriddhi. Previously, managing packaging and shipping myself was costly and time-consuming. With Flipkart’s fulfilment network, our supply chain became stronger, delivery faster, and quality control more consistent. Products now reach customers across India quickly, often within a day, and professional packaging has reduced damage and returns. This has led to lower costs, better margins, and happier customers.

The Road Ahead: Expanding Dreams and Impact

Today, I employ five people from my village and hope to expand further, creating more livelihoods in the region. My business is proof that digital access can open new doors for rural entrepreneurs. Inspired by Walmart Vriddhi, I’m now pursuing formal studies in business administration to strengthen my skills. My next steps are to build Aykitzil’s online presence with a branded website, expand into imports, and explore cross-border trade through Walmart Marketplace. The lessons from Walmart Vriddhi continue to guide me as I grow a business that started in a small village into one with national reach and global ambitions.
